I've been replacing most of the 21 year old double glazed windows in our house with new frames/glass. I have about 3 windows left to do and they are getting masses of condensation on them this winter. I'm wondering why these particular windows are getting so wet inside compared to all the other windows.
Our house has good extraction in each bathroom and reasonable extraction in the kitchen. We tumble dry in the winter. The room in question is as far away from any...

I need to get some roof work done which is likely to include eave trays some I'm hoping that if any of the damp is coming from above then this will help to stop it. The plaster above the window does have some hairline cracks and...

I'm going to get a new door fitted, as it's quite old.
In the meantime, if I cut the cable, will I be able to close the door ?
And will I be able to open it again after ?]]>1Georgian style interior doorsSun, 27 Dec 2020 22:57:20 +0000

I’ve had new carpet installed in my lounge stairs and bedroom. After installation I can feel all the grippers pins coming through the carpet. Before anyone mentions it it was not cheap carpet. I’ve had the company back but all they tried to do was flattern them all down (missed over half). They said they use expensive gripper rods and that it’s normal and if they used the short pin grippers the carpet wouldn’t grip.
Am I just being picky or have they done something...

There was very little airflow to the kitchen initially because the house is empty, but I've been opening the doors and windows and the majority appears dry. However where the angle beads are you can see dark brown outlines. Will this just be down to still drying out, or is there an issue? It's been like this for around a week now with no change.

all the plaster has dried but there is a big wet part that won’t go away and a small dark spot that keeps coming and going sometimes small sometimes bigger?
i contacted them as I think it maybe due to a leak? The previous roof leaked in the EXACT same place? They said they sealed it and as it now has a new roof they say it can’t be that. They also say that it was raining when they put the roof on which...

Ive capped off the old electric wiring with wire nuts and tape and power too lead has been switched off at mains. Think its a 32A cooker point but prefer to leave any eventual "wiring in" to an electrician at a later date if necessary.

I have an LG American fridge GSL545NSQV and whilst the ice dispenser still uses the mains water line to fill.and make ice cubes, the front dispenser will not dispense water, cubes or crushed ice. Can hear the micro switch clicking but it does nothing.
Inside door is all one piece cant see how to get to mechanism ... guessing screws are under seal. Any advice, or can help, or know an LG engineer ?

I would like to mount my 49" curved monitor which weighs around 14kg to my wall. I've recently purchased a TV wall mount which holds up to a maximum of 60kg which is more than enough - I intend to use it flat against the wall. However, the wall I'd...

What happened was that I had drilled out my 10mm hole for a wall plug which I duly inserted followed by screwing in a floating shelf rod which you turn in with a spanner. As I was nipping it up on last turns, the screw end of the rod sheared off and was stuck in the wall. I had to use a 20mm hole saw to cut round and free it and thus now...

I wondered if anyone could kindly help me with an issue I am having with my front door.
It is a UPVC multi lock door. With a key entry on the exterior and a thumb turn on the interior.
A few months ago, we suddenly found ourselves unable to remove our keys when the door was unlocked. Now when we come into the house, we have to unlock the door from the outside, then pull the handle up and turn the thumb turn to lock the door from the inside (whilst the door is open), we then...

As I understand it, the best policy is to drill a pilot hole with a decent hss drill then use a self tapper in place of the screws provided by the manufacturer.
Any links to the right drill bit and screws would be an amazing help right now.]]>
